Sudbury Youth Soccer Spring 2008 Skills Academy

Last Updated: Sunday, April 06, 2008

This spring Sudbury Youth Soccer will again be running free soccer skills clinics with coaches from MLS Camps. The clinics are a highly structured eight-week course with a curriculum stressing a progression of skills and techniques from week to week.

There is no cost for these sessions, but players much register in advance as each session is limited to 64 players. Registrants will be placed on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration opens Monday, April 7, at 8 a.m. The sessions begin the week of April 14.

Each session will be run by Ross Duncan, Sudbury Soccer's director of coaching, and three MLS Camps coaches, Anthony Connolly, Hamilton Coulter, and Zac Hopkins. Each age group will have a session once a week from 4 to 5 p.m. at Haskell Field. Please bring a soccer ball.

Here is the schedule of days and age groups for both boys and girls:

Monday U8
Tuesday U9, U10
Wednesday U11, U12
Thursday U14
Friday Goalkeeping (all ages)

The Friday goalkeeping session is open to all U8-U14 players.

The Academy is a seven-week progressive program so players should attend every week. If a player misses two consecutive weeks, he or she will be dropped from the program.

In addition to these skills-based clinics, MLS Camps coaches will be working with teams as they have in past seasons.
