Everyone is asking. The funny response is May. However, weather patterns change quickly in March and an April start is still a real possibility.
Park&Rec monitor two factors. The first is obvious... when will the snow melt. The second is actually more important... when will the ground thaw. The soil must reach a certain temperature such that grass can emerge. To play on the field before then would ruin the turf structure.
So, keep your fingers crossed for warm days, but make sure you factor in a bit of time after the melt for the ground to thaw and dry out.
Spring equipment distribution is scheduled for Saturday April 4th from 9-12 at Haskell Field. This is for coaches who need soccer equipment or even just need to replenish the gear bag. If you cannot make the Saturday date, please email Andy at email@example.com
What can a hockey coach teach you about soccer? Probably a lot.... Jamie Rice, the Babson Head Men's Hockey coach, has graciously agreed to come and give a talk on Thursday, 4/9 at 6:30 pm in the lecture hall at L-S. He's an engaging speaker and workshop leader. Jamie is going to speak about his unique approach to coaching and how to get more play out of practice. Please consider coming out to join the forum.
Save the date for Sudbury Soccer Night as the NE Revolution take on USMNT players Jozy Altidore and Michael Bradley of Toronto FC.
SYSA will have their own lot for tailgating as well as an opportunity for players to take a penalty shot on goal after the game.
