COACHING POINTS

WARM UP
0-10 minutes

MLS Teams – 20x20, each side of the box has a MLS teams name.

Players must run to the commanded side and perform toe-taps, side taps

Ball close, eyes up, react quickly, focus

EXERCISE ONE
10-20 minutes

 

Pass + Move  figure of 8

Player 1 and 3 stand 6 yards apart, player 2 stands in the middle, 2 passes to 1 and then runs around 1, when 1 receives the pass he takes one touch and passes to 3,  2 then returns to the middle and performs a give and go with 3, runs around 3 while 3 passes back across to 1 and perform again

Strike through center of ball, focus on ball when connecting

EXERCISE TWO
20-30 minutes

 

3v3 – 20x20 yard box,

At each side of the box place a ball on top of a cone, the idea of the game is to successfully knock off more balls than your opponents!

CONDITIONED GAME
30-40 minutes

Small sided games enforcing passing

Condition: Players must complete 5 passes

Re-enforce points

EXERCISE THREE
40-50 minutes

Runaround – 20x20 scatter cones around area

Players must dribble around area passing as many cones as possible, every cone they pass they receive 1 power point, when coach shouts “catch” the players must pick up a cone as fast as possible, if they don’t, their ball gets put in the dungeon, to get it back they must do 2 juggles

Head/Eyes up

Use laces

Explode from starting position,

React quickly

EXERCISE FOUR
50-60 minutes

Relay Race – 10x5 yard box, 4 to a box, 2 each end, players must run in a relay format from one end on the box to the other.

Progression:
Force players to use weaker foot or outside of boot

CONDITIONED GAME
60-70 minutes

Small sided games enforcing dribbling

Condition: Players must dribble into wide position (a box) before scoring

Re-enforce Dribbling points

SMALL SIDED GAMES – 4v4
70-85 minutes

4v4 Small Sided Field - 30 x 24 yards (24 = 10 yards either side of a 4 yard goal)

This wide area will ensure maximum playing time without as many breaks in play for throw-ins.

Allow to play, let each child enjoy the game

COOL DOWN
85-90 minutes
