SESSION EIGHT

COACHING POINTS

WARM UP
0-10 minutes

1000 Touches – 20x20 yard area. This warm-up will be consistent throughout the ages and will work on close control.

EXERCISE ONE
10-20 minutes

 

Pass + Move – In 3’s, players1 + 3 stand 5 yards apart with player 2 standing like a statue in front of player 3 , Player 1 feeds the ball into player 3, player 3 returns the pass and moves around the static player 2, he receives another pass and again moves around the static player 2, continue for 90 seconds and switch roles

Meet they ball, inside of feet, 1st time passing, be low and balanced.

EXERCISE TWO
20-30 minutes

 

Possession, 20x30 yard area, 2v2 with a floating player – creating 3v2

Players must try to maintain possession of the ball for as long as possible, every 5 passes = goal

Meet they ball, first touch out of feet, head up, pass with correct technique and move into space.

EXERCISE THREE
30-40 minutes

3v3 + 3 servers.  20x30 yard grid.  At the end of the grid place a 5 yard goal, at the opposite end place 3 servers with balls.  In the center of the grid 2 teams will try and score in the goal.  A server must pass the ball to a receiver who will try and turn his player and shoot,

Positive first touch out of feet, shoot early,

Strike with laces, low/hard/across the goalkeeper

Follow through in direction of target

GAME RELATED PRACTICE
40-50 minutes

3v3. 20x30 yard area.  In the center of the grid create a 4 yard triangle.  Each side of the triangle in a goal, there will be one GK defending the goals.  Teams must pass and shoot t first opportunity

Re-enforce sessions points, don’t lose focus of group

BEDDING DOWN
50-60 minutes

Width – 16x12 yard area, 3v2, attackers must dribble through defenders line

GAME RELATED PRACTICE
60-75 minutes

3v3 with a wall player on each side = 5v3.  Teams must play the ball wide for a wall player to play a cross into the box

SMALL SIDED GAMES – 4v4
75-85 minutes

4v4 Small Sided Field - 35 x 22 yards (24 = 10 yards either side of a 2 yard goal)

Ensure team is still working at a high tempo.

Re-enforce sessions points, don’t lose focus of group

COOL DOWN
85-90 minutes

Relaxing Movement + recap session

Slow + gentle movements
