AIM OF SESSION: To Improve Dribbling/Passing technique, incorporate Support into game play

SESSION SIX

ORGANIZATION

COACHING POINTS

WARM UP
0-10 minutes

1000 Touches – 20x20 yard area. This warm-up will be consistent throughout the ages and will work on close control.

EXERCISE ONE
10-20 minutes

 

Diagonal Dribble, 10x10 box
In pairs, the leader with the ball, the players move around the outside of the box, following each other, when the leader dribbles the ball diagonally, his partner sprints 2 sides of the box and they swap positions.

Progressions:
1. The player following now has the ball and when leader sprints 2 sides he does a diagonal.

Head Up – looking for space, pass, shot

Use laces to dribble quickly

Keep the ball moving at all time

React quickly to movement from partner

EXERCISE TWO
20-30 minutes

 

Pass in Pairs
Simply- in pairs, 1 worker, 1 feeder, the feeder throws ball for worker to pass/half volley and volley accurately back, swap after 5 and keep rotating.

Quality 1st time passes,

Correct preparation position

Body open, strike through center of ball, follow through in direction of target

EXERCISE THREE
30-40 minutes

Passing in 4’s 
2 players with on the outside (feeders) and 2 players with no ball in-between.  Feeders play ball in to their partner and they pass simultaneously, after pass the 2 players in middle shuffle to their left and cross, they then receive another pass and shuffle to the right, and cross again and continue for 1 min and swap

Quality 1st time passes,

Correct preparation position

Body open, strike through center of ball, follow through in direction of target

CONDITIONED GAME
40-50 minutes

Complete 5 passes in a move before shooting at goal

Re-enforce sessions points, don’t loose focus of group

BEDDING DOWN
50-60 minutes

Support 2v1 – 2 attackers 1 defender 16x10 yard grid

An attacker at either end of grid, A1 passes to A2 and attackers must pass D’s line.

GAME RELATED PRACTICE
60-75 minutes

3v3 with wall players – 3v3 in the middle scoring as usual but the rest of the players stand equally around the field acting like a wall and if they receive the ball they must return the ball back to the team in possession of the ball.

SMALL SIDED GAMES - 4V4
75-85 minutes

4v4 Small Sided Field 35 x 22 yards (24 = 10 yards either side of a 2 yard goal)

Ensure team is still working at a high tempo.

Re-enforce sessions points, don’t loose focus of group

COOL DOWN
85-90 minutes

Relaxing Movement + recap session

Slow + gentle movements
