COACHING POINTS

WARM UP
0-10 minutes

1000 Touches – 20x20 yard area
This warm-up will be consistent throughout the ages and will work on close control.  It will come as a separate guide which will be attacked to this document

EXERCISE ONE
10-20 minutes

 

5v2 shooting – 20x20 yard grid with a goal at one side

Successfully complete 5 passes then shoot on goal

Strike with laces, knee over the ball, head focused on ball, follow through in direction you wish to make the ball go

Shoot low/hard/across the goalkeeper

EXERCISE TWO
20-30 minutes

 

Team Shooting – Challenge between 2 teams

1 team will be strikers and in turn, will dribble from 25 yards out and shoot against the GK, after the 1st attacker shoots the next automatically starts running.  Run for 2 minutes, swap over and the team that scored the most win

Strike with laces, knee over the ball, head focused on ball, follow through in direction you wish to make the ball go

Shoot low/hard/across the goalkeeper

GAME-RELATED PRACTICE
30-40 minutes

6v3 four goal exercise – team with 3 has a goalkeeper, team of 6 must shoot in a normal sized goal, if the 3 players win the ball they must attack the other 3 smaller goals surrounding the field

Strike with laces, knee over the ball, head focused on ball, follow through in direction you wish to make the ball go

Shoot low/hard/across the goalkeeper

CONDITIONED GAME
40-50 minutes

After crossing the halfway line you must shoot

 

Re- enforce shooting technique

BEDDING DOWN
50-60 minutes

Width 3v2 – 3 attackers 2 defenders, 10x15 yard grid

Attackers must successfully dribble past defenders line.

GAME-RELATED PRACTICE
60-75 minutes

4v4 Wide field to force width, 28x35 – the field is wider than longer! Players must dribble through gates in wide area’s and then cross the ball for a shot at goal

SMALL SIDED GAMES - 4V4
75-85 minutes

4v4 Small Sided Field  - 35 x 24 yards ( 24 = 10 yards either side of a 4 yard goal)

Ensure team is still working at a high tempo.

Re-enforce sessions points, don’t loose focus of group

COOL DOWN
85-90 minutes

Relaxing Movement + recap session

Slow + gentle movements
