WEEK ONE -- DRIBBLING PENETRATION

SESSION ONE

COACHING POINTS

WARM UP
0-10 minutes

1000 Touches – 20x20 yard area. This warm-up will be consistent throughout the ages and will work on close control.

EXERCISE ONE
10-20 minutes

 

 

 

Technique Box, 10x10 yard boxes with a cone in the middle, 4 players to a box.  Players dribble into cone and back out to starting position

Progression:
Each player goes into middle and out one place to right/left
Each player goes into middle and out one place to right and down one side of the box to the left (finishing directly opposite their starting position)

Ball control, use inside of feet

Head up

Quick feet

High tempo

EXERCISE TWO
20-30 minutes

 

 

 

Intense Dribbling - Four small games at all corners of your area, 1v1, 1 attacker, 1 defender, attacker will try and dribble through a gate to score a goal, defender will try and tackle attacker, if successful, will then become attacker and dribble through a gate.

Head Up – looking for space, pass, shot

Use laces to dribble quickly

Keep the ball moving at all time

Speed away from players

GAME-RELATED PRACTICE
30-40 minutes

4v4 Intense Dribbling – Using the same area, 4v4 play exactly the same exercise, except they can now pass to a team mate.

CONDITIONED GAME
40-50 minutes

Dribble past a player before scoring

 

BEDDING DOWN
50-60 minutes

Penetration 2v1 15x 10 yard area. Defender passes to attacker, attacker must dribble defenders line

GAME-RELATED PRACTICE
60-75 minutes

 

 

End Zone Soccer – small sided, create an end zone at either end of the field (8 yards from goal) with a target man inside. To score a goal the players must pass (penetrate) to their target man and must shoot to score

SMALL SIDED GAMES - 4v4
75-85 minutes

 

4v4 Small Sided Field  - 35 x 24 yards (24 = 10 yards either side of a 4 yard goal) Ensure team are still working at a high tempo

Re-enforce sessions points, don’t loose focus of group

COOL DOWN
85-90 minutes

Relaxing Movement + recap session

Slow + gentle movements
