COACHING POINTS

WARM UP
0-10 minutes

1000 Touches – 20x20 yard area
This warm-up will be consistent throughout the ages and will work on close control.  Click here for an explanation of 1000 Touches.

EXERCISE ONE
10-20 minutes

 

In 3’s

Feeder passes to striker, strike takes 1 touch, turns and shoots at the GK, 

Rotate roles after 5 shoots each

Meet the ball, positive turn, strike with laces and follow through in direction of target, head down and steady

EXERCISE TWO
20-30 minutes

 

4v4 – 30x20

At either side of the field place 2 goals, giving players many options and opportunities to shoot

Strike with laces and follow through in direction of target, head down and steady

EXERCISE THREE
30-40 minutes

In 3's

2 feeders, 1 worker, feeders begin by alternately passing ball for worker to control, Switch role after 90 seconds

Progression, move up the body and control with different parts of the body

Choose the correct surface to control the ball with, position your body to use that surface, be positive and take the first touch out of your feet

EXERCISE FOUR
40-50 minutes

3v3 – 30x20, 5 yard boxes in each corner

teams defend 2 of the boxes, to score a goal players must successfully pass and control the ball in boxes

Judge pace and direction of ball, pass into the corner as fast as possible, be direct, choose the correct surface to control the ball

BEDDING DOWN
50-60 minutes

 

Depth – 16x10 yard area, Defenders must successfully prevent Attackers penetrating their line

GAME RELATED PRACTICE
60-75 minutes

4v4 , split the field in half, 3v3 with a goal keeper, in each half will be 2 D’s and 1 A,  After a player passes to the attacker, the other spare player can run and support the attack, forming a 2v2 situation

SMALL SIDED GAMES – 4v4
75-85 minutes

4v4 Small Sided Field - 30 x 24 yards ( 24 = 10 yards either side of a 4 yard goal)

This wide area will ensure maximum playing time without as many breaks in play for throw-ins.

Re-enforce sessions points, don’t loose focus of group

COOL DOWN

85-90 minutes

Relaxing Movement + recap session

Slow + gentle movements
