COACHING POINTS

WARM UP
0-10 minutes

1000 Touches – 20x20 yard area
This warm-up will be consistent throughout the ages and will work on close control. Click here for an explanation of 1000 Touches.

EXERCISE ONE
10-20 minutes

 

Working in 1’s
Handling Technique

Finger of 8, ball bounce through legs+ catch through other side. Over head and catch behind back

Magic W with fingers

Ready position – hands in front of chest/palm down.

Balls of feet, body behind ball

EXERCISE TWO
20-30 minutes

 

Wor king in 2’s
Lying face down on ground with 4 different colored cones in front of player, partner shouts a color and player must jump up, side step to color and then save a shot from partner. Repeat 5 times and swap partners

Ready position – hands in front of chest/palm down.

EXERCISE THREE
30-40 minutes

Shooting – Long/Short/Accurate – one 4 yards wide/8 yards back, one 4 yards wide/ 20 yards back, one 2 yards wide and players must stand 8 yards back.  # groups and after a player shoots they move station

 

Strike with laces

Toe/knee/chin over the ball when striking

Follow through in direction of Target

EXERCISE FOUR
40-50 minutes

Shooting – 6v3, 4 goals, 1 large 3 four yard goals.  Team of three defend large goal and can score in any of the other 3 goals. The team of six must defend the 3 smaller goals and score into the large goal

Strike with laces

Toe/knee/chin over the ball when striking

Follow through in direction of Target

BEDDING DOWN
50-60 minutes

 

Depth 2v2
Depth – 16x10 yard area,  Defenders must successfully prevent Attackers penetrating their line

GAME RELATED PRACTICE
60-75 minutes

2v2 + Goalkeeper,  2 attackers start 28 yards from goal, 2 defenders start 18 yards from goal.  Attackers run forward and try to beat defenders and shoot, defenders must try to prevent shot by using bedding down coaching points.

SMALL SIDED GAMES - 4V4
75-85 minutes

4v4 Small Sided Field  - 30 x 24 yards ( 24 = 10 yards either side of a 4 yard goal)

This wide area will ensure maximum playing time without as many breaks in play for throw-ins.

Re-enforce sessions points, don’t loose focus of group

COOL DOWN
85-90 minutes

Relaxing Movement + recap session

Slow + gentle movements
