SESSION EIGHT

ORGANIZATION

COACHING POINTS

WARM UP
0-10 minutes

1000 Touches – 20x20 yard area
This warm-up will be consistent throughout the ages and will work on close control.  Click here for an explanation of 1000 Touches.

EXERCISE ONE
10-20 minutes

 

1 v 1- 20x20 area, scatter cones around area with balls on top

In a 1 v1 situation players must shoot at every opportunity and knock the balls of the cones, when all balls are knocked off, players pick them up again and start over

Angled run up

Strike with laces

Knee over the ball

Follow through in direction of target

EXERCISE TWO
20-30 minutes

 

3+3 v 3

3 attackers run forward and try to get past 3 defenders and shoot, as soon as the first 3 shoot the next 3 attack , once they shoot the players swap roles

Knee over the ball

Follow through in direction of target

CONDITIONED GAME
30-40 minutes

2v2, after each goal the teams change ends and shoot on the opposite goal.

Re-enforce shooting points

EXERCISE THREE
40-50 minutes

In 2’s

1 Feeder 1 player.  Using different parts of the body to successfully control the ball and return a pass back to the feeder

Judge pace and direction of ball

Choose correct surface to control the ball

Positive 1st touch so you can step into a forward pass

EXERCISE FOUR
50-60 minutes

Flipper

3v3 in the middle with a target man behind each teams side, a team must successfully pass the ball to their target man for him to control the ball at his feet, if successful the team wins a point

Judge pace and direction of ball

Choose correct surface to control the ball

Positive 1st touch so you can step into a forward pass

CONDITIONED GAME
60-70 minutes

Maximum of 4 touches on the ball

Re-enforce control points

SMALL SIDED GAMES - 4v4
70-85 minutes

4v4 Small Sided Field - 30 x 24 yards ( 24 = 10 yards either side of a 4 yard goal)

This wide area will ensure maximum playing time without as many breaks in play for throw-ins.

Allow to play, let each child enjoy the game

COOL DOWN
85-90 minutes
