COACHING POINTS

WARM UP
0-10 minutes

1000 Touches – 20x20 yard area
This warm-up will be consistent throughout the ages and will work on close control.

EXERCISE ONE
10-20 minutes

 

Working in 3’s – 2 with a ball on either side of the working player, the working player must run between the two players, Firstly controlling a ground pass, then into a thigh control, chest control.  Rotate middle player

Come to meet the ball, choose the correct surface to control the ball, positive 1st touch out of feet, keep ball moving

EXERCISE TWO
20-30 minutes

 

Working in 4’s  - 1v1 in the middle 2 players out side the box,

Ball is player into middle, player must successfully control the ball and pass it out to a wall player.

Come to meet the ball, choose the correct surface to control the ball, positive 1st touch out of feet, keep ball moving

CONDITIONED GAME
30-40 minutes

Small-sided games enforcing control
Condition = Maximum 4 touches on the ball

Re-enforce Dribbling points

EXERCISE THREE
40-50 minutes

Dribbling in 3’s, 20x16 yard area

Players follow the 1st man and whenever he performs a skill or move the other players must in turn perform that skill and then the leader peels off and goes to the back

Head Up – looking for space, pass, shot

Use laces to dribble quickly

Keep the ball moving at all time

Speed away from players

EXERCISE FOUR
50-60 minutes

Dribbling Relay- 2 in a team
Fast paced, teams must dribble around a set amount of cones in front of them continually switching man,

Progression: make it a race

Head Up – looking for space, pass, shot

Use laces to dribble quickly

Keep the ball moving at all time

Speed away from players

CONDITONED GAME
60-70 minutes

Small sided games enforcing dribbling
Condition = after you cross half way you must shoot

Re-enforce Dribbling points

SMALL SIDED GAMES - 4V4
70-85 minutes

4v4 Small Sided Field  - 30 x 24 yards ( 24 = 10 yards either side of a 4 yard goal)

This wide area will ensure maximum playing time without as many breaks in play for throw-ins.

Allow to play, let each child enjoy the game

85-90 minutes
