Carlos' passion for the game comes from having been brought up in a loving, nurturing family in the Azores, Portugal, where the simplicity of soccer was a family value. His father's love for the local team Clube Desportivo Santa Clara and for Portugal's emblematic club Sport Lisboa e Benfica was ingrained in his genes and remains alive today.
He played at Woonsocket High School in R.I. and began coaching at an early age with the Cracovia Soccer Club also of Woonsocket. In 1997 Carlos joined the New England Revolution where he volunteered as an assistant trainer with the first team. His duties soon expanded to a variety of tasks, including assisting the coaching staff at games and training sessions. During that experience he also had the opportunity to spend time training with Portugal's Clube Desportivo Santa Clara where he was exposed to a variety of training methods.
Carlos has coached at Bellingham High School since 2004 where he teaches Health and Physical Education. In 2010 Carlos founded Santa Clara Soccer School where he conducts soccer and futsal training sessions and league play. He has been a member of the New England Revolution Academy coaching staff since 2013.
