Working
with Beginners (U6-U7) is
for coaches of kindergarteners and first graders. It
is especially intended to help volunteers who are new to coaching, or new to
coaching younger players. It includes an eight-week
skills development program that will be
useful to new and experienced coaches alike.
Working
with Young Players (U8-U10) is for coaches of second through fourth
graders, and features tips and suggestions for teaching critical soccer
skills, as well as selecting an appropriate formation for your team.
Working
with Youth Players (U11-12) is for coaches of fifth- and sixth-grade
teams, an age where the sport is becoming more and more competitive and
players move up to 8-a-side games on larger fields. It focuses on continued
skill building, and features tips on coaching mixed-level teams and
selecting the best attacking and defensive formations.
Working
with Advanced Players (U14) is for coaches of 13 and 14 year
olds. It
focuses on teaching more advanced topics, like recognizing and adapting to
the four phases of the play, and includes specific drills to support these
concepts. It also includes nutrition and hydration tips for coaches to pass
along to older players.
Working
with Goalkeepers contains tips and drills that coaches in a wide range
of age groups can use to improve the skills of their keepers.
